Programmable thermostats have become a widespread and reliable solution within the world of HVAC controls.

Programmable thermostats are used to adjust the desired temperature settings ahead of time, according to a user's specific schedule. They can store and repeat multiple daily settings, therefore allowing for more precise, flexible temperature control at all times.

Programmable thermostats can generally be divided according to 3 different parameters: 
1. Program Type (user must select type upon ordering)
  • USA-type: user programs different set points, Set Point Temperatures for Cooling & Set Point Temperatures for Heating, for different times of day without ever turning the system off (one program begins when the previous one ends).
  • Europe-type: user programs Start times, Stop times and Set Point Temperatures (one for both Cooling and Heating) throughout the day.
2. Number of Programs per week
  • 5-1-1 signifies a total of 3 different programs per week; 1 for the weekdays (Monday -> Friday), 1 for Saturday and 1 for Sunday.
  • 7-days signifies 7 programs per week; 1 for each day of the week.
3. Number of Periods per day
  • 4 per day.
  • 2 per day.
